Rikei Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”) has developed a Japanese-made facial recognition system for both indoor and outdoor use, featuring highly accurate authentication even in backlit environments as well as dust and water resistance.
The system is ideal for installation at factory entrances, industrial complexes, office buildings, and other secure access points. Users can complete facial authentication while remaining inside their vehicles, helping streamline entry and exit procedures.

Overview of the Indoor/Outdoor Facial Recognition System

Developed by Rikei, the facial recognition system is equipped with an IP55-rated(*1)  terminal for dust and water protection and a high-sensitivity camera designed to perform reliably in backlit conditions. It delivers stable authentication in a wide range of environments, including changing weather conditions.
Built to Japanese quality standards, the system also provides the quality, durability, and long-term reliability required for continuous operation.

(*1) IP55 : An IP (Ingress Protection) rating under international standards indicating the level of protection against dust and water.

Key Applications and Benefits

The system enables seamless, contactless identity verification for entry to and exit from large-scale factories and industrial complexes using pre-registered facial images, reducing the need for manual checks and enhancing operational efficiency.
For vehicle access, facial recognition terminals installed beside gates enable smooth in-vehicle authentication and automatic gate operation, significantly reducing the burden on drivers—particularly those operating large vehicles.

Key Features

・Delivers fast, accurate, and reliable authentication with an industry-leading facial recognition engine.

・Outdoor use is supported with Miyagawa Manufacturing Co., Ltd.’s IP55-rated dust- and water-resistant authentication terminal and an optional mounting bracket.

Miyagawa-Manufactured Fully Japan-Made Facial Recognition Terminal

・Stores facial image data securely on a cloud server(*2) , helping prevent data leakage even if a terminal is stolen. A dedicated app is provided for photo registration.

・Seamlessly integrates with existing visitor management systems, with IC card support for guest access.

・Integrates with access control systems to enable efficient occupant monitoring and management.

・Ensures high-speed authentication even during peak traffic periods by using proprietary virtualization technology for load balancing.

・Enables real-time registration of new facial images while continuing to authenticate existing users.

・Supports user grouping to restrict access to designated areas.

(*2) On-premises deployment is also available.

Future Plans

Rikei plans to expand deployment to large-scale factories and industrial sites requiring advanced security. The company also plans integration with its Evacuee facial recognition system, which helps confirm whether personnel have safely reached designated shelters during emergencies.
