Rikei Participates in Aoyama Gakuin’s Large-Scale Wireless LAN Renewal and Expansion Project
Approximately 3,000 Access Points to Be Deployed Across Campuses
Rikei Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”) is pleased to announce its participation in the Core Network System Renewal Project led by Aoyama Gakuin (Head Office: Shibuya-ku, Tokyo).
As part of this initiative, Rikei will deliver and install wireless access points manufactured by Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise (Headquarters: France; CEO: Yann Zhang) across both the Aoyama and Sagamihara campuses. The rollout will proceed in phases, and upon completion, the network will comprise approximately 3,000 access points, significantly enhancing campus-wide connectivity and overall network performance.
Project Overview
Aoyama Gakuin is undertaking a comprehensive replacement of its core network system to support increasingly diverse learning environments, such as hybrid instruction models that integrate online and in-person education. Through this project, the institution will progressively enhance and optimize its network infrastructure across both the Aoyama and Sagamihara campuses.
In this initiative, Rikei is responsible for deploying a large-scale, campus-wide wireless LAN infrastructure. To significantly improve maintainability and operational efficiency, the institution is transitioning from a complex multi-vendor environment to a fully standardized network powered by Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise solutions.
The project is being executed in two strategic phases. During the Replacement Phase (FY2024–2026), approximately 1,800 existing access points are being upgraded to the latest Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise devices. Rikei successfully completed the first stage of this phase, involving about 300 access points, in March 2025, with system operations officially commencing in April 2025. The project will then move into the Expansion Phase (FY2027–2029), which will extend wireless coverage to previously underserved areas such as research laboratories. Upon final completion in fiscal year 2029, the network is expected to reach a total scale of approximately 3,000 access points, establishing a robust and seamless communication environment for the entire institution.

Key Benefits of the Project
・Standardization on Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Solutions
To enhance maintainability and operational efficiency, Aoyama Gakuin is replacing its existing multi-vendor wireless LAN with a fully standardized network powered by Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise.
・Simplified Guest Access
The new system allows external guests to apply for wireless access directly, streamlining the application process and improving accessibility for campus visitors.
Overview of Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise Wireless LAN Solutions
Alcatel-Lucent Enterprise offers a comprehensive portfolio of wireless access points suitable for deployment in both indoor and outdoor environments, including office and campus settings. Centralized controllers are available in both on-premises and cloud-based configurations.
A key feature of the solution is its unified management interface, which enables administrators to monitor and manage the entire network from a single dashboard. By eliminating the need to operate separate management systems for monitoring servers and authentication platforms, the solution simplifies maintenance and enhances operational efficiency.
Wired LAN integration is outside the scope of the current Aoyama Gakuin project.

Future Plans
With a solid track record in delivering wireless LAN solutions to educational institutions, Rikei will leverage the expertise gained through this project to further expand its presence across universities and other academic institutions.
Service Launch Date
Service commenced on April 1, 2025.
Full project completion is scheduled for fiscal year 2029.
