Rikei Launches Adjustable VR Prescription Lenses for Apple Vision Pro

Rikei Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”) is pleased to announce that it has begun offering the Adjustable VR Prescription lens adapter for Apple Vision Pro—a spatial computer (*1)—developed by VOY Glasses, Inc. (Head Office: California, USA; CEO & Founder: George Zhao; hereinafter “VOY”).
The lenses can be securely attached to Apple Vision Pro, which previously required custom lenses tailored to the user’s vision. With a simple slide of the adjustment control, users can easily change the prescription to suit both nearsightedness and farsightedness.

(*1) Spatial Computer : A device designed for spatial computing, which blends the physical and digital worlds using technologies such as AR and VR. At its developer conference WWDC 2023, held in June 2023, Apple introduced the Apple Vision Pro as a spatial computer.

Overview of Adjustable VR Prescription Lenses

The Adjustable VR Prescription Lens is an innovative adapter that enables users to enjoy the Apple Vision Pro without the need for eyeglasses. Since the Apple Vision Pro cannot be worn over traditional eyewear, users previously had to prepare dedicated prescription lenses customized for each individual. This posed challenges when sharing the device among multiple users, such as swapping lenses or managing different prescriptions.
With the Adjustable VR Prescription Lens, users can simply slide an adjustment to adjust the lens power. This feature makes it easy to share a single Apple Vision Pro headset among friends, family members, classrooms, or businesses—eliminating the inconvenience of switching lenses for each user.

Future Outlook

Head-mounted displays are no longer limited to entertainment—they are increasingly being adopted across various industries for applications such as immersive experiences and training simulations. As their use expands in business environments, educational settings, and demonstration scenarios, the need to share a single device among multiple users is also growing. This trend is driving increased demand for prescription lenses that allow quick and easy adjustment.
To meet this demand, Rikei plans to incorporate these lenses into its own projects, while also expanding availability to general consumers. In addition to solutions for the Apple Vision Pro, Rikei also offers VOY’s adjustable lenses for Meta Quest 2, Meta Quest 3, and Meta Quest 3S.
