Rikei Launches RADWIN’s TerraNet – 60GHz Wireless Access System
Rikei Corporation (Headquarters: Shinjuku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”) is pleased to announce that, as of July 2025, it has begun offering the TerraNet, a 60GHz wireless access system developed by RADWIN Ltd.
Product Overview
TerraNet, RADWIN’s new 60GHz wireless access system, offers license-free and registration-free operation delivering high-speed, long-range connectivity. Available in three antenna configurations, the system supports up to 32 subscriber units, enabling scalable deployment tailored to a wide range of applications and installation environments.
With gigabit-level data throughput, TerraNet ensures low-latency, seamless transmission of large volumes of data, including high-definition video content. The choice of three distinct antenna models allows users to select the optimal solution based on performance requirements and site conditions.
Ideal for locations lacking wired infrastructure—such as areas without fiber-optic networks—TerraNet provides network performance on par with wired systems. Additionally, its automatic antenna alignment function significantly simplifies installation, reducing setup time and labor on-site.
Use Cases
- Rapid deployment of emergency networks during natural disasters
- Wireless communication between factory or office buildings
- Real-time transmission of surveillance camera footage
- High-quality video streaming for sports and live events
- Remote control of heavy machinery at construction sites

Key Features
- License-free operation
- Transmission range up to 1.8 km (in clear weather; rain attenuation not considered) (*1)
- Effective throughput up to 2.3 Gbps (actual data transfer per unit time)
- Supports up to 32 subscriber units
- Beamforming supported (*2)
- No antenna alignment required
- Low-latency communication
- High resistance to radio interference
(*1) Rain attenuation : Reduction in signal strength caused by absorption and scattering of radio waves by raindrops.
(*2) Beamforming : A signal processing technique that improves communication performance by directing the transmission or reception of radio waves toward a specific direction.
Market Background
Japan’s geographic characteristics make it particularly prone to natural disasters such as earthquakes. As a result, the importance of maintaining stable communication infrastructure during emergencies is increasing. In particular, wireless communication methods are gaining attention as a more resilient alternative to wired connections, which are susceptible to physical damage.
Additionally, the performance and number of street surveillance cameras used for security and monitoring purposes continue to grow. This trend requires communication networks capable of transmitting high-resolution, high-capacity video data in a stable manner.
In the construction industry as well, initiatives for unmanned operation of heavy machinery such as cranes are progressing. These efforts aim to reduce labor-intensive tasks for workers and address labor shortages, and they require high-speed, low-latency communication systems suitable for remote operation.
While expectations for wireless communication continue to rise across various sectors, many high-speed wireless systems still require license applications and specialized operational knowledge, posing a barrier to adoption.
In response to this situation, license-free wireless access systems—which enable flexible and rapid deployment of network infrastructure—are drawing increasing attention.
