Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Satoru Isaka; hereinafter “Rikei”), is pleased to announce that it’s Disaster Training VR Project has been awarded a grant from Epic MegaGrants, a development funding program from Epic Games (Head Office: North Carolina, U.S.A., CEO: Timothy Dean Sweeney).

Epic Games has created the Epic MegaGrants program, a $100 million development-support program designed to globally accelerate the activities of talented teams and individuals producing creative and innovative content using the Unreal Engine, the 3D creation platform developed by Epic Games.
Rikei’s Disaster Training VR Project has been selected by the program to receive financial support.
The Disaster Training VR Project creates VR content for the disaster training and firefighting drills that Rikei has been developing since 2017. The large number of major earthquakes and floods that have occurred in recent years triggered Rikei to begin this initiative using VR to provide effective disaster training. In addition, the VR content for firefighting training enables firefighters to improve their skills safely and effectively. The project is currently under development as a government-industry-academia collaborative project.
With the support of Epic MegaGrants, Rikei will continue to develop and provide high value-added content to the world.
