Background

In the current beauty and cosmetics industry, it is necessary to conduct advanced, speedy research and development that makes full use of big data, high-resolution 4K video, and digital technology such as 3D technology able to recognize depth, etc., in order to provide high-value-added products and services that suit changing trends and meet changing needs. When measuring skin it is important to take high-definition images of its 3D shape, and the depths of irregularities and quantify them accurately.

This major cosmetics manufacturer that has introduced the system was looking for a device able to capture high-definition changes in the dynamic unevenness of the face. The system can continuously and with high accuracy capture a head (200 degrees from ear to ear) with an error of 0.2 mm or less at ultra-high speed, and also makes non-contact capture of the human body without using a laser possible.

 

Product overview

The 3dMD System series are systems that include a device that enables the ultra-fast-capturing of images of the face, head, and whole body, capturing a maximum of 360 degrees with an error of 0.2 mm or less, the highest precision in the industry, together with software that displays the captured data as a 3D image. Capturing 3D still images at 1-10 fps 1 up to 3D video at 120 fps is possible using the analysis software. Moreover, it is possible to measure linear distances between two points on the soft tissue surface of the body or the skin, the length of curves, and volumes, while multiple images can be superimposed for comparison. Analysis is also possible in combination with 3D data captured using CT (Computer Tomography) or CBCT. 2

In the beauty and cosmetics industry, it is used to measure how much face lines have lifted after head spa treatments, and measures the age, etc. of facial muscles. The system has been applied in advanced research in the fields of ergonomics, apparel, sports and beauty in addition to medical fields such as dentistry, oral surgery and plastic surgery, achieving more than 1,500 operational results.

Features

1) Only have to capture one time, without laser light
Capturing from the face to the whole body at one time using a non-contact capture technology that does not use laser light which may affect the human body (especially eyes), using a CCD camera and an LED flash.

2) Ultra-fast still image photography
Ultra-fast still photography at 1.5 mm/second to prevent blurring even for difficult-to-stabilize subjects (such as infants).

3) 3D video recording function
The Motion Capture3 function enables recording up to 120 fps without using markers attached to the human body.

4) Generation of highly accurate 3D data
The data captured by this system with its error of 0.2 mm or less is ideal for measurements and studies that requires high-precision data.

Compatible with many 3D analysis programs.
