RIKEI CONCLUDES DISTRIBUTOR AGREEMENT WITH 3dMD (a U.S. Manufacturer) TO DISTRIBUTE SUPER HIGH-SPEED 3D SURFACE IMAGING/ANALYSIS SYTEMS.
Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Katsuei Aoyagi) would like to announce it has concluded a distributor agreement with 3dMD LLC (Head Office: Atlanta, CEO: Christopher Lane) and has started to sell 3dMD's super high-speed 3D surface imaging/analysis systems.
The computer system supplied by 3dMD which turns images taken by the super high-speed camera system into 3D data and displays them is being used by research institutions, dental departments and plastic surgery departments of hospitals across the world, and it is no exaggeration to say there is no rival in the field of facial data storage.
In taking photos of moving objects in the field of maxillofacial correction and plastic surgery, the slower the shatter speed becomes, the higher the probability of slur occurrence becomes. In the case of a conventional 3D digitizer system which allows photo-taking from 360-degree viewpoint, it had such drawbacks as a need to revolve the camera or the object, a need for shatter speed of several minutes to several hundreds of milliseconds with only a single blink while taking photos having a risk of blur. 3dMD products has made it possible to take photos within a time as short as 1.5mS, which is highly evaluated by users and the industry.
The fixed camera allows high-speed photo-taking up to 360-dgree viewpoint and high-accurate data output, thus enabling you even to take photos of portions of children whom are difficult to make still. Moreover, this is a compact system which can be carried as your hand baggage.
The 3D anaslysis software "VULTUS" (an option) takes in CT/MRI data and enables you to conduct simulations of remedial surgery, and show images of the patient to explain the progresses before and after the surgery in an easy-to-understand way. The software which has been evolving to meet various requests from users for many years is very easy to use because it allows the overlapping of photos before and after surgery for comparison purpose, easy settings of coordinate points for data comparison, measurement of volume/length of various body parts, etc.
Rikei will exhibit a 3dMD Face System, which is a 3D Facial Surface Imaging/Analysis System at the exhibition sponsored by suppliers at the time when a the 67th Japanese Orthodontics Society Meeting to be held at Makuhari Messe from September 16 to September 18, 2008.
