RIKEI STARTS SALES OF A NEW SOFTWARE THAT EXPANDS THE FUNCTIONALITY OF THE J-ALERT SYSTEM. THIS AUTOMATICALLY ACTIVATES IN-HOUSE BROADCASTING SYSTEM AT SCHOOLS, HOSPITALS, ETC. IN AN EMERGENCY.
Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo, President & CEO: Katsuei Aoyagi) would like to announce it has started to sell a new software product that is designed to expand the functionality of satellite receiving systems for the Nation-Wide Instantaneous Alert Systems (J-ALERT*) of the Fire and Disaster Management Agency. When the J-ALERT receiver receives emergency alerts issued by the Meteorological Agency or the Cabinet Secretary, the new software will automatically activate in-house broadcasting systems in local government offices of cities, towns and villages as well as in the buildings of schools, hospitals, etc.
When alert is received, this J-ALERT functionality expansion software has the ability to automatically activate in-house broadcasting systems, then broadcast the alert and then stop it. Also using IP networks of local governments, the alert is distributed to remote offices of local governments, schools, hospitals, etc. then automatically activate in-house broadcasting systems. The type of alerts to be activated can be set up individually to match the requirements of each facility. In Tokushima Prefecture and another prefecture, the product is actually used with it connected to the broadcasting systems in the offices of the prefectures.
Rikei sells this software product as a functionality expansion option for the J-ALERT receiving systems installed in local governments of cities, towns and villages.

Under this system, the Fire and Disaster Management Agency issues emergency information concerning urgent incidents such as tsunami, earthquakes, firing of ballistic missiles, etc. via a satellite multicast to disaster management administration of cities, towns and villages, and to convey such urgent information to residents.
