Rikei Announces Release of a New Version of the Linktropy WAN Emulator from Apposite Technologies (a U.S. corporation) and Availability of a New Low-Cost Model.

Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Katsuei Aoyagi) announces the availability of the new Version 4.0 of the Linktropy WAN Emulator from Apposite Technologies, Inc. (Head Office: California, USA; President: DC Palter), adding a link condition recorder and player feature to the product.
The new Version 4.0 firmware for the Linktropy 4500, 7500, and 7500 PRO models includes a link condition recorder and player in addition to manual settings for latency and packet loss. Using the Linktropy Recorder/Player makes it possible to reproduce any user's network environment, making it easy to test applications prior to deployment and troubleshooting performance problems after deployment. The Linktropy Recorder captures latency and packet loss on the live network and the Linktropy Player reproduces those conditions on Linktropy WAN Emulator, creating high fidelity reproduction of live network environments. The Linktropy Recorder can record more than 24 hours of network conditions. Version 4.0 is available at no additional charge to current users of the Linktropy 4500, 7500, and 7500 PRO in their first year after purchase and to users who have purchased an extended maintenance agreement.
The new Linktropy Mini is a portable, low-cost model for users who do not require advanced features such as the Linktropy Recorder/Player. The product emulates basic link conditions such as bandwidth, delay, jitter, and packet loss at a speed of 100 Mbps or less. The Linktropy Mini is compact (1.6Kg, 27cm (W) x 18cm (D) x 4.5cm(H)) and convenient for use in field testing and product demonstrations.
System integrators who build networks for businesses find that network infrastructures are becoming increasingly complex, involving terrestrial networks, wireless communications, the Internet, and satellite links. Linktropy WAN emulators help system integrators easily emulate the conditions of any type of link including latency, packet loss, and other factors to help select the most suitable networking infrastructure. Linktropy WAN Emulators are easy to use and provide highly accurate results at a very reasonable price.
Rikei plans to actively promote Linktropy WAN Emulators to system integrators as well as other networking equipment and application developers. Shipment begins in July 2008 with prices starting from Yen 304,000.
