Rikei Has Built A Main Computerized System for SHORINJI KEMPO Group,
which Has Made It Possible for about 2,900 Dojo Halls to Apply for Promotion to Grading Dan and Pay Membership Fees Online.

Rikei Corporation (Head Office: Shinjuku-ku, Tokyo; President & CEO: Katsuei Aoyagi) has built and delivered a main computerized system, which uses a portal system "ATG Portal" developed and produced by ATG in the USA, for SHORINJI KEMPO Group.

SHORINJI KEMPO is now popular in 32 countries besides Japan, having about 2,900 halls (dojo) including branch offices with total active members (Kenshi) exceeding 140,000 across the world. Paperwork procedures for membership subscription and events applications such as promotion to Grading (dan) are first handled by responsible persons at each hall (dojo) and then managed by appropriate corporations and their headquarters. This new system is a computerized system which uses a portal system connecting between each of halls (dojo) and the headquarters via the Internet - which has enabled total management of user information and accounting information on the Web at the headquarters as well as speeding up the daily and monthly processing of such information and greatly reducing the amount of work to be done by persons.

SHORINJI KEMPO Group decided to introduce this new computerized system which uses a portal system on the Internet, which is a borderless infrastructure, because of the need to provide identical services to members in and outside Japan and to reduce the amount of jobs required of the head of each hall (dojo), under its ideal of "Promoting Social Educational Activities across the World" based on its aim of realizing "The Only One - SHORINJI KEMPO in the World." Portal sites were built to be able to provide new functions for each job, screen displays to match the privileges of individual users, and expandability which allows for the registration and deletion of processing menus according to items which each user uses and for layout edition.

With the introduction of this new system, each head of a hall (dojo) now has become able to access any information intended for members real-time, apply for promotion to higher ranks for members belonging to the hall, pay membership fees online, tremendously reducing the amount of paperwork jobs. And the headquarters has also become able to easily grasp and manage the operation status of the entire group and to provide high-quality services to more than 140,000 members through the head of each halls (dojo).

Reason for Selecting "ATG Portal"

To respond to increasing requests from heads of dojo halls across the world for computer processing of various paperwork procedures to reduce their jobs amid the widespread use of PCs and the Internet in recent years, SHORINJI KEMPO Group started to develop a computerized system with higher efficiency of jobs at the headquarters also in mind.

In the development process, the developers at the Group aimed to attain the abilities to speedily process various paperwork jobs which differ with corporations and member groups, to take over individual information smoothly at the time of movement of members among different member groups, and also aimed to streamline development, operation and maintenance of a completed computerized system, which promoted them to decide to unify the entire system under a Web system.

The Group found that there are very few cases of developing main computerized systems based on the idea of using the Internet in the form of CRM packages, and the Group finally selected and adopted "ATG Portal" after totally evaluating actual use cases outside Japan and development/maintenance/cost aspects which meet the wide-ranging and complex requirements of SHORINJI KEMPO Group.

Features of the New System

Screen displays matching the privilege of each user (employees, head of dojo halls, etc. are displayed.
It is possible to make settings for display or non-display of some menu items and screens according to the privilege of each user. When an ordinary employee logs in, menu items matching his or her privilege will appear. And when the head of a dojo hall, a display showing details of the dojo hall appears. Namely, the system is designed to provide appropriate screen displays matching each user"s privilege.
Seamless Processing of Jobs among Different Corporations
The Group has three corporations and one organizational group which govern the activities of member players, each of which does some coordinated jobs spanning these organizations. For this reason, this system has integrated all processing of such jobs into one system, and is designed to control portal screens to match the privilege of each user and enable them to do complex jobs efficiently. Thus, users can do jobs spanning the corporations and the group.
Scheduling Ability for Multiple Jobs Processing
For a real-time system, its linkage with non-synchronized processing such as processing of jobs which must be closed for the day and the month is a big problem. This system has cleared this problem by using a batch control sub-system which was specifically developed to overcome this problem.
Linkage with Ledger Sheet Generation Function
The Group has about 100 patterns of ledger sheet layout, including regular and provisional ones. The system is designed to output data matching each layout. Users can now output ledger sheets for each type of jobs without paying attention to the layout, increasing their efficiency in work.

SHORINJI KEMPO Group is planning to promote security strengthening for the purpose of promoting the more use of this new system in the Group and preventing information leak in order to attain higher productivity in performing jobs as well as more sharing of information in the Group.

Rikei plans to promote the introduction of "ATG Portal" actively to various organizations with many branches and members as a member information management system on the strength of its successful introduction to SHORINJI KEMPO Group. We are aiming to sell 20 systems over the coming three years.

About ATG Portal

Provides screen displays matching the privilege of a user who logs in.
Each job is implanted as a portlet , which is used together with the personalize function of ATG Portal, making it possible for one single portal system to provide functional services matching each user.
Manages various jobs seamlessly
Builds a system by using the modules it provides and the work flow, which connects between complex jobs seamlessly and processes them at a high speed.
Conducts batch-processing (developed by Rikei)
Rikei has developed a batch-processing sub-system which controls work flow non-synchronously, enabling batch-processing for major jobs.
Links with Ledger Sheet Generation Function
Provides data outputs matching specific ledger sheet patterns, generating a different pattern of ledger sheet for each of various jobs.
Reduces costs at the time of system modifications
Easily and flexibly responds to the needs for any change to the complex business logic and to the privilege(s) assigned to users.
